“Gods,” he muttered, staring at me. His hands trembled, and I smiled.
“The Gods have nothing to do with this,” I replied coldly.
“Synthia,” he exhaled as he shook his head watching me.
“Bilé is out there. He was freed when my mother died. He has already found his way back to the Mages and is leading them here. I’m done losing. It’s time we stopped waiting around for them to find us. No more waiting for them to come to our gates. It’s time we went out to find them. I may not be able to fight them outside of Faery, but that doesn’t mean we can’t take the fight to them. Just because I cannot fight them outside of this world doesn’t mean I will sit around on my hands while you do it. I am Synthia, Daughter of Danu, Goddess of Faery, and the Queen of the Horde. I am a queen by choice and birthright. I am not a sit-around-and-wait kind of girl either. It’s time we bring the war to them. I say we level the playing field and use their tactics on them. Danu told me to look for loopholes in the rules that the Gods made so that they can’t intervene. We find them and we use them. We take back our world and make them tremble in fear of our names. We are the King and Queen of the Horde, and I am ready to hunt.”
“That’s my girl,” he said proudly as he smiled and pulled me to him. “Let’s sound the war horns. My Queen wishes to hunt.”
“We will ride together and take back what is ours.”
“And this?” he asked, touching the crystal.
“We’ll wait until the war has been won and we are ready for it.”
“I love you, Witch.”
“And I love you, Fairy. Now, let’s go make some noise, shall we?” I asked, as a smile played on my lips.
